In 2021, it finally happened: My youngest child left for college. My other son left in the fall of 2019. My friends ask me how it feels, and my response is always that I miss my kids. Not only do I miss them, but I miss their friends. People will say that you get use to it. I don't miss them in an unhealthy way. It's just that I have always enjoyed my kids. I am thankful to have college students who are healthy and thriving. To fill the void, I knew I needed to find a new focus for my attention.
